Victims of violent acts and terrorism in Arauco Province expressed regret over the statements made by Defense Minister Adriana Delpiano, who avoided labeling the Arauco Malleco Coordinator (CAM) as a terrorist organization.

Meanwhile, lawmakers from the area also commented on Delpiano's statements, offering varying perspectives on the state secretary's declarations.

The statements by Defense Minister Adriana Delpiano did not sit well with families who have been victims of arson attacks, which they classify as terrorist acts, in Arauco Province.

This comes after the state secretary refrained from labeling the Arauco Malleco Coordinator as a terrorist group during an interview on the program Tolerancia Cero.

According to Christian Grollmus, a victim of an attack classified as terrorist by the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, the minister is on the wrong path.

Socialist Party Senator Gastón Saavedra nuanced Minister Delpiano's statements, clarifying that CAM is a coordinator but must be evaluated based on the acts it has committed and whether these qualify as terrorist or not.

In turn, DC Deputy Eric Aedo was more critical of the Defense Minister, taking the opportunity to defend the statements of Jeannette Jara, who said that the justice system should determine whether certain attacks are terrorist.

Meanwhile, the Presidential Delegate of Bío Bío, Eduardo Pacheco, stated that the Government is aware of terrorist acts, hence the modifications made to regulations that allow these crimes to be invoked.

It is worth recalling that the new Anti-Terrorism Law has already been invoked in the area for arson attacks, one of which was carried out by unknown individuals at the Rucalhue power plant construction site, leaving over 50 trucks burned.
