Fire in El Maitenal Controlled: 35 Hectares Recovered

The joint effort of the Senapred Regional Early Warning Unit, the National Forestry Corporation (Conaf), Firefighters, and Carabineros has borne fruit in the fight against the forest fire in the El Maitenal sector, in the commune of Río Ibáñez. After a week of intense work, authorities have confirmed the extinguishing of the fire that consumed 35 hectares of vegetation.

Rapid Response and Effective Coordination

The fire, which began seven days ago, was met with determination by specialized Conaf brigades, who worked hard alongside Firefighters and Carabineros to control the flames. The Conaf Sidco platform was key to monitoring the situation and coordinating firefighting actions.

Despite the magnitude of the fire, which affected a considerable area of trees, shrubs, and grasslands, no injuries or damage to nearby infrastructure were reported. This positive outcome is attributed to the early warning issued by Senapred and the effective response of the emergency teams.

Prevention Measures and Continuous Surveillance

With the fire now under control, authorities maintain constant surveillance in the area to prevent possible flare-ups. Additionally, investigations are underway to determine the causes of the incident and establish measures to prevent future occurrences.

The community of Río Ibáñez and surrounding areas can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that the swift action of emergency teams has averted a greater tragedy. However, the public is called upon to remain alert and cooperate with authorities in preventing forest fires.
