Violent Assault on Forest Ranger in Los Lagos: Tied Up and Threatened

In the darkness of early Sunday morning, a forest property caretaker in the commune of Los Lagos experienced moments of terror when he was assaulted by three hooded individuals. The victim, who provided services for Forestal Arauco, was attacked around 4:00 a.m., suffering a violent assault that included being bound hand and foot, beaten, and threatened with a firearm.

The events unfolded when the assailants broke into the container where the caretaker resided. After subduing him, they stripped him of his personal belongings and locked him in the property's dining hall, securing the door with a padlock. Not content with this, the criminals proceeded to steal several tools from another container used as a storage unit and left a graffiti message on it, the content of which has not yet been revealed.

The victim managed to free himself and escape through a window, immediately alerting the Carabineros about the incident. The Los Ríos Prosecutor's Office, in response to the serious event, tasked the Investigative Police (PDI) with carrying out the necessary procedures to clarify the facts and locate the whereabouts of those responsible.

This attack not only represents an act of violence against a worker but also highlights the vulnerability faced by those who guard properties in remote areas. The community of Los Lagos and forest workers hope that the investigation yields prompt results and that security measures are strengthened to prevent future incidents.

The Los Ríos Prosecutor's Office has called on the public to collaborate with any information that may be useful in resolving this case and assures that they are working hard to find the perpetrators of this crime that has shocked the locality.
