With a focus on the imminent 2025-2026 wildfire season, Mayor Manuel Macaya Ramírez held a key meeting with the regional director of Conaf, María Teresa Huentequeo Toledo, addressing the main threats facing the municipality and the necessary measures to strengthen prevention and emergency response.
The meeting took place in a context of high concern, as Collipulli remains one of the highest-risk areas in the region. According to the figures provided, 66% of the incidents recorded in the territory are of intentional origin, highlighting not only the vulnerability of the environment but also the urgency to reinforce coordinated efforts among authorities, institutions, and the community.
During the meeting, current conditions were assessed, and the implementation of concrete measures was discussed. Among these, the proposal emerged to establish a permanent forest brigade in the municipality, which would enable a faster and more effective response to fire outbreaks, particularly during the hottest and driest months.
Mayor Macaya appreciated the willingness of the Conaf director to analyze joint solutions, emphasizing that "we cannot wait for the emergency to catch us by surprise; it is time to get ahead with preventive actions that safeguard both our community and the natural heritage of the area."
If the idea of having a brigade in Collipulli moves forward, it would mark a significant step in local preparedness to face a season that, according to forecasts, could be especially complex. Meanwhile, authorities reiterated their call for citizens to actively collaborate, avoiding risky behaviors and promptly reporting any suspicious situations related to fire ignition.
