First Attack of the Year in La Araucanía Leaves Two Machines Destroyed

In the early morning hours, the tranquility of the commune of Nueva Imperial, in the La Araucanía Region, was disrupted by an arson attack that resulted in the destruction of two excavators. The incident, corresponding to the first attack of this kind so far this year, occurred on a plot of land in the rural sector of La Junta, used for the storage of aggregates.

The fire affected two pieces of machinery located about 500 meters apart, which prompted an immediate alert to the authorities. The First Proceedings Prosecutor's Office instructed the attendance of the Special Police Investigations Brigade (BIPE) of the PDI, along with the Criminalistics Laboratory, in order to clarify what happened.

The commissioner of the Temuco BIPE, Jorge Chavarría, reported that no banners or messages were found at the scene that would allow attribution of the attack's authorship. "The flagrancy and first proceedings prosecutor requested the attendance of this specialized area," he stated, emphasizing the lack of background information linking the incident to any specific group.

So far, no organization has claimed responsibility for the attack. The scene of the incident, located about a kilometer from the urban radius of Nueva Imperial, also did not display slogans or symbols pointing to a possible motive.

The investigation continues, with special emphasis on the collection and analysis of security camera footage from the area, while the community of Nueva Imperial and nearby areas remains alert to potential new incidents.
