Acoforag Laments Tragedy from Fires in Ñuble and Biobío and Demands Justice for Victims and Affected Forestry SMEs

The Association of Forestry Contractors A.G. (Acoforag) expresses its deepest sorrow for the tragedy caused by the forest fires affecting the regions of Ñuble and Biobío, which have resulted in fatalities, hundreds of homes destroyed, and severe social, environmental, and productive damage.

Acoforag acknowledges and values the work of brigade members, firefighters, emergency teams, and volunteers, who risk their lives to confront this catastrophe and protect communities.

Furthermore, we firmly condemn any negligent or intentional action that causes forest fires. We hope that ongoing investigations will clarify the facts and that those allegedly responsible are identified and sanctioned with the full force of the law, so that these crimes do not go unpunished.

We reiterate the urgent call to the State to strengthen public policies supporting those affected, as well as policies for prevention, control, oversight, and investigation of forest fires, and the recovery of destroyed forests.

Acoforag reaffirms its commitment to collaborate in all instances that help prevent new tragedies and advance toward comprehensive solutions to the forest fires that severely affect the country.
