As part of its commitment to the forestry industry, Salfa continues to strengthen its offering of high-performance machinery. Fernando Ortiz, forestry machinery assistant manager, explains that the John Deere 800M series Feller Buncher line has established itself as the most versatile medium-sized option on the market, capable of handling "from small trees to large diameters, on flat surfaces or steep slopes."

One of the key elements is the 859M model, configured with the U7 undercarriage, designed for extreme work and greater tire life. "It's a robust, long undercarriage, designed to withstand years of continuous work on complex terrain," details Ortiz.

Advanced Systems

Added to this is the leveling control system, which maintains a low center of gravity and provides great stability on steep slopes. Electronic leveling allows for 64% more forward tilt capacity, which improves operator safety and comfort in severe conditions or when working with cable. Furthermore, the equipment incorporates a slope measurement display with real-time information, facilitating decision-making on the job.

The 800M series also stands out for its productivity, thanks to the dual swing motors, which offer greater torque and faster cycles. Ortiz emphasizes that this equipment "translates directly into more operational efficiency and better performance per shift."

Regarding maintenance, John Deere has focused on facilitating daily work. "Access to components is wide and quick. The cab and service door open completely, allowing for more agile daily inspections and reducing downtime," he comments.

Unrestricted Integration

Another differentiating innovation of the John Deere Feller Bunchers is the accessory valve located at the end of the arm, which simplifies the hydraulic line—only one pressure and one tank line—and contributes to lower oil temperatures. The brand offers felling heads like the FR22 and FR27 models, with 312 degrees of rotation, optimizing cycles and increasing productivity. However, Ortiz clarifies that the equipment "integrates without restrictions with any head the customer prefers."

In terms of technology, the 800M series incorporates advanced telemetry with Operations Center and JDLink, allowing for remote monitoring, performance data, and real-time alerts. "For our customers, this means total control of the fleet from anywhere," explains Ortiz.

With this combination of power, stability, and connectivity, Salfa reaffirms its commitment to delivering forestry solutions that support the sector's productivity and growth.
