The Investigative Police (PDI) arrested two individuals who allegedly had direct involvement in a serious attack that occurred in February 2021 in the Bío Bío region, specifically in the locality of Los Ríos, commune of Los Álamos, which was claimed by the Mapuche Lafkenche Resistance (RML).
In that incident, approximately 15 hooded and armed individuals stormed a forestry operation, where they attacked workers with gunfire, leaving three of them injured. Furthermore, the antisocial individuals set fire to seven pieces of machinery, causing significant material damage.
The arrests were carried out in two simultaneous operations conducted with support from the Navy, one in the locality of Ponotro, commune of Tirúa, and another in Huentelolén, commune of Cañete.
According to information gathered by Radio Bío Bío, the detainees allegedly belong to the radical organization Mapuche Lafkenche Resistance (RML), the group that claimed responsibility for the arson attack that occurred in 2021 in Los Álamos.
Following their apprehension by the Investigative Police, both detainees were transferred to the Emergency Service of the Cañete Hospital for examination of injuries. Subsequently, they will be placed at the disposal of the Guarantee Court of Lebu, where they will face the respective detention hearing and formal charges.
