Individual wanted for qualified homicide linked to the Grollmus case is arrested

A man who had an active arrest warrant for the crime of qualified homicide was arrested in Cañete, within the framework of the investigation into the arson attack that occurred at the Grollmus Mill, in the commune of Contulmo, in August 2022.

The procedure was carried out during this Thursday, after the individual was subjected to an identity check by Carabineros officers. After verifying his record, he was taken to the facilities of the 3rd Cañete Police Station.

On the instructions of the Cañete Local Prosecutor's Office, detectives from the Special Police Investigations Brigade (BIPE) of Cañete went to the police facility and carried out the arrest, in compliance with an order issued by the Cañete Guarantee Court.

Deputy Prefect Carlos Henríquez, head of the Cañete BIPE, explained that the procedure was carried out at the Carabineros facilities because the accused had previously been checked through an identity control.

The detainee corresponds to accused number 22 in this investigation and, according to information provided by the police, he had been a fugitive from justice.

During this Friday, the man will be placed at the disposal of the Cañete Guarantee Court, where the detention control hearing and the subsequent formalization of charges will take place.
