The hearing where the Public Prosecutor's Office was scheduled to announce the closure of the investigation into the attack against the Grollmus family in the commune of Contulmo this Tuesday was suspended. In the attack, around twenty armed individuals attempted to take lives and set fire to the Grollmus mill.
The Cañete Guarantee Court, in a situation not foreseen by the Concepción Court of Appeals, communicated that the hearing could not be held due to a lack of judges. Rescheduling is pending, awaiting the return of Judge Cristian Rosenberg from his vacation.
The closure of the investigation would apply to 19 of the 21 accused, who are members of the Lafkenche Mapuche Resistance. There is a separate case involving two minors, who have already been charged and whose trial is scheduled for next March 3rd at the Cañete Oral Court.
It is worth recalling that the attack on the Grollmus Mill occurred in August 2022. Following an extensive investigation, the Public Prosecutor's Office managed to identify those responsible, including leader Federico Astete. They face charges such as attempted homicide, arson, and illegal possession of weapons.
