The reconstruction following the forest fires in the Biobío region will cost US$400 million. In this context, the Minister of Housing, Iván Poduje, presented the master plan for the works, which involve changing the current layout of the fire-affected areas.
The material losses in urban areas from the forest fires amount to 500 million dollars, which is equivalent to implementing the Metro in Greater Concepción.
The master plan presented by the Minister of Housing, Iván Poduje, will have a cost of 400 million dollars and consists of the construction of permanent housing, the modification of town layouts with the creation of green areas, a new access road from Concepción to Tomé, and measures to prevent a new catastrophe.
In this regard, the funds must be approved in the reconstruction bill, stated Minister Poduje.
For his part, the mayor of Penco, Rodrigo Vera, welcomed the change that the area will undergo.
The measures to prevent a forest fire from crossing into urban areas will cost nearly $100 billion, which will be specialized works, commented the Governor of Bío Bío, Sergio Giacaman.
During the frontal system's passage, 22 homes were affected this weekend and will need to be relocated, so Minister Poduje instructed the Serviu to work on the construction of containment walls.
