The National Forestry Corporation (Conaf) announced the appointment of Álvaro González Pinuer as the new regional director of the entity in the Biobío Region.

González, a forestry engineer with a four-decade career in the sector, faces the challenge of leading forest management and ecosystem protection, as well as strengthening relationships with local communities.

With solid academic training from the Austral University of Chile and extensive professional experience, González has managed various forestry companies in the Biobío Province. His career has provided him with a strategic and technical perspective on sustainable forest management, skills that will be fundamental in his new position.

The focus of his management will be on environmental conservation, wildfire prevention, and promoting sustainable development, working hand in hand with public, private, and civil society sectors. Álvaro González thanked Conaf's executive director, Aída Baldini, for his appointment and expressed his commitment to the corporation's mission.

"It is an honor to assume this appointment and the challenge of leading Conaf in the Biobío Region. I come from the private sector with the conviction to contribute, with experience and management, to the valuable work carried out by the Corporation. Our priority will be to strengthen the prevention and combat of wildfires, alongside a highly qualified team of workers, whose knowledge of the territory will be key. We want to move forward with efficient, collaborative, and community-close management," stated González.

The community of the Biobío Region looks forward with interest to the initiatives that the new regional director will implement, trusting that his leadership will significantly contribute to the protection and sustainable management of the region's forest resources.
