Within the framework of the regional task force Against Organized Crime, Carabineros from OS9 Ñuble arrested an individual in the commune of El Carmen for the crimes of timber theft and driving without the corresponding license.
The procedures carried out as part of a focused deployment allowed specialized personnel to locate and apprehend a 50-year-old man, who was caught driving a truck transporting processed native timber, without the documentation certifying its legal origin, such as a transport guide or management plan. Furthermore, the individual did not possess the proper license to drive the type of vehicle being inspected.
During the intervention, Carabineros seized the truck used, approximately 200 meters of native timber, and a mobile phone. These items were made available to the Public Prosecutor's Office along with the case details.
The Prefect of Ñuble, Colonel José Luis Villegas, highlighted the relevance of these operations, stating that "this procedure is part of the specialized and permanent work we are developing to combat crimes prioritized by the regional task force, such as timber theft, which not only affects the economy but also our natural resources. We will continue strengthening these focused services to detect and detain those who break the law."
Following the procedure, the accused, who has a record for other offenses, was made available to the Court for a detention hearing.
