Efforts coordinated to reactivate the economy and boost the use of wood in Ñuble

With the purpose of strengthening public-private collaboration and contributing to the regional economic reactivation, the Chilean Chamber of Construction Ñuble led a working meeting with the Regional Minister of Economy, Development and Tourism, Manuel Cofré; the Regional Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Carolina Navarrete, and a representative of the MOP.

The instance was especially focused on analyzing alternatives that allow for valuing wood and supporting the development of the timber industry in Ñuble, considering its importance for productive activity, job creation, and the growth of companies linked to this sector.

Ignacio Ruz Santana, President of the CChC Ñuble, assured that "an unemployment rate of 11% shows the urgency of dynamizing investment and strengthening the productive sectors of Ñuble. The timber industry has high potential to generate added value, local linkages, and formal employment. As CChC Ñuble, we are available to collaborate with the authorities and move forward on public-private initiatives that promote the use of wood and contribute to the regional economic reactivation."

The Regional Minister of Economy, Development and Tourism of Ñuble, Manuel Cofré, expressed: "The timber industry and construction are great generators of employment, both in Chile and in Ñuble. Everything that involves boosting and maximizing these areas, we will be collaborating as a ministry."

During the meeting, the general challenges facing the regional economy were also addressed, as well as the need to move forward on initiatives that promote investment, drive new projects, and generate better conditions for employment recovery.

The Regional Minister of Housing and Urban Development of Ñuble, Carolina Navarrete, highlighted the intersectoral work: "We seek, among all of us, both public and private, working to reactivate wood construction in the different areas such as housing and public works. We are also organizing a conference, where we expect the attendance of Minister Poduje, focused on establishing guidelines to incentivize wood construction."

The meeting allowed for establishing a basis for joint work and reaffirming the importance of maintaining permanent coordination between the public and private sectors to address the economic challenges of Ñuble and take advantage of its productive capacities.
