Forest Contractors' Lawsuit Against the State for Attacks in Southern Macrozone Declared Admissible
The Second Civil Court of Concepción declared admissible the lawsuit filed by the Association of Forest Contractors against the State for lack of security in the face of attacks and assaults that have affected the industry in the Southern Macrozone.
The court declared admissible the lawsuit filed by 45 contracting companies in the forestry sector against the State for lack of security amid attacks in the Southern Macrozone. The Second Civil Court of Concepción gave the government 15 days to respond to the accusation.
The lawsuit was filed on September 14 on behalf of 45 companies affected by nearly 70 attacks since November 2018.
The legal action is based on the State's failure to provide adequate security services. René Muñoz, manager of the Association of Forest Contractors, welcomed the court's decision to admit the lawsuit.
The lawsuit details much of the violence that has affected companies in the sector in the Bío Bío and Araucanía regions but does not specify the amount of compensation sought by the plaintiffs.
René Muñoz explained that now that the lawsuit has been admitted, they will begin working on calculating the reparations.
The forest contractors insist that the State is responsible for the financial losses they have suffered because it is the State's duty to provide the conditions necessary for them to work and develop their projects.
