Forestry Contractors: "Arauco is an unsafe place where you cannot live, vacation, or go to the beach"
The union reacted to the statements by the head of Defense in Biobío, Daniel Muñoz, who admitted he would not take his family to rest in this province.
"It is clear evidence that the Rule of Law and institutions are not functioning," commented leader René Muñoz, manager of Acoforaf.
The Association of Forestry Contractors, which operates between the Maule and Los Lagos regions, stated that the words of the head of National Defense for Biobío—where it focuses its work alongside La Araucanía—reveal the level of insecurity under which they must carry out their activities.
This was pointed out by the manager of Acoforag, René Muñoz, after Commodore Daniel Muñoz admitted he would not go to "summer vacation" in Arauco Province, despite the decrease in records of arson attacks in the area.
"The words of the head of National Defense show what Arauco Province is today: an unsafe place where you cannot live, where you cannot vacation, where you cannot go to the beach," said Muñoz.
That the head of Defense stated he personally would not go to that place "is clear proof that indeed the Rule of Law and institutions are not functioning in the province, and the level of insecurity is so severe that it is not advisable to be there," the spokesperson opined.
