Forestry Contractors Request Consideration of Secondary Routes in State of Exception
The manager of Acoforag, René Muñoz, while valuing the measure decreed by the executive, requested that route protection not only focus on main highways and roads in the southern macrozone.
The Association of Forestry Contractors valued the decision to declare a State of Exception for the southern macrozone, announced by the Minister of the Interior and Public Security on Monday night, and requested that the measure include secondary and rural roads, not just main highways and routes.
The manager of Acoforag, René Muñoz, commented on this measure, stating, "We appreciate the government's decision under President Boric to declare a State of Exception in the provinces of Biobío, Arauco, and the Araucanía region. These are areas being ravaged by terrorism, violence, and destruction."
He added, "Undoubtedly, the impact of these violent actions on investment and the development of these regions must also be protected. Therefore, we believe the measure is appropriate, but we regret that the regions of Los Ríos and Los Lagos were not considered, as these are also affected areas and will likely become the spaces where these terrorist groups operate as they are cornered and face tighter controls in the northern part of the southern macrozone."
He further stated, "We hope the State of Exception decree also considers roads—not just main highways, but also secondary roads, rural or strategic routes that connect different regions. These are the paths used by the criminals causing so much harm to the growth and development of the southern regions of the country," he concluded.
