Public Statement May 6, 2022
In light of the events occurring in the regions from Bío Bio southward, the Association of Forestry Contractors A.G. declares:
1.- We have always been concerned and committed to the health and safety of forestry workers.
2.- In line with this, we actively participated in a mobilization of forestry workers and contractors that began on Monday, May 2, 2022. We sat at a table with the government and agreed on six points, the most important of which is the enactment of a law declaring public and rural roads as critical infrastructure, to be patrolled and controlled by the Armed Forces and Public Order.
3.- We value and honor the signed agreements, as well as the government's willingness to seek solutions to improve the safety conditions of forestry workers.
4.- The objectives set forth in the mobilization have been achieved, and we must return to normal activities. We firmly believe that the sector is built by all of us—workers, contractors, and principal companies.
