The Guarantee Court of Puerto Varas ordered the precautionary measures of national grounding, monthly signing, and prohibition from approaching the scene of the crime for the suspects charged with the attempted theft of timber. They were discovered by Carabineros last Monday, March 27, in a forested property in the commune of Fresia.

According to the prosecuting entity, on Monday morning, the involved parties split into pairs and boarded the truck with license plate VP9228, the pickup truck with license plate DH6693, and the pickup truck with license plate RG1385, intending to steal timber. They headed to the "Parga Raíces" estate, located on route V-300 in the commune of Fresia and owned by the company Forestal Anchile Limitada. They entered the property after breaking the lock on the access gate.

Once inside the property, they proceeded to cut down eucalyptus trees using chainsaws and an axe, loading the logs onto their vehicles to appropriate the timber, which was valued at $4,370,000. However, they were caught in the act and arrested around 3:00 PM by Carabineros personnel who arrived at the scene.

During the formalization hearing, Judge Leandro Bahamonde Hernández upheld the precautionary measures proposed by the Prosecutor's Office, deeming them proportional and appropriate for the purposes of the proceedings. Additionally, the investigation period was set at 90 days.
