Uninhabited house destroyed in arson attack in Freire: message about land restitution found
An uninhabited house was reduced to rubble after an arson attack in the town of Quepe, in the commune of Freire, La Araucanía region.
The incident was confirmed by personnel from the Police Investigations Brigade (BIPE) of the PDI, specifying that it occurred around midnight inside the El Manzanar property, two kilometers from Quepe.
At the request of the Prosecutor's Office, officers arrived at the scene to gather evidence that could help identify those responsible.
Inspector Miguel Ramírez of BIPE Temuco reported that "following instructions from the preliminary investigations prosecutor, Carlos Obreque, we went to kilometer 2 of Route S443, specifically to the El Manzanar estate, where unknown individuals proceeded to set fire to a house during the night."
A message written on cardboard was also found, demanding the restitution of lands and the freedom of Mapuche community members.
As often happens in such cases, no arrests have been reported so far in connection with the attack.
