The ORT Weichan Auka Mapu destroyed six machines during an arson attack early this Friday in the commune of Padre Las Casas, in the La Araucanía region.
Specifically, this occurred in the rural area of Rapa Maquehue.
It was a shed where the machines were parked, awaiting maintenance before starting operations.
Those responsible for the attack used accelerant to destroy the vehicles. Neighbors stated that something like this had never happened in the area before. They also mentioned hearing gunshots.
At the site of the arson attack, a claim pamphlet attributed to the ORT Weichan Auka Mapu was found.
This violent incident is the second arson attack in less than 24 hours in the La Araucanía region.
On Thursday, individuals burned two trucks at kilometer 16 on the road to the San Andrés sector, in the commune of Collipulli.
The vehicles, which were carrying out forestry work, were loaded with stacked cubic meters of wood.
Public Order Control personnel from Carabineros arrived at the scene of the attack and, after securing the area, allowed the arrival of Collipulli Fire Department units.
