After "red alert" in La Araucanía: Individuals burn a truck on railway tracks and shoot at a train in Ercilla

A large-scale operation took place tonight in the commune ofErcilla, Region ofLa Araucanía,after a group of unknown individuals burned a truck on the railway tracks and fired a series of shots at a train car.

The incident reportedly occurred in thePidimaarea and was recorded shortly after theGovernment declared a "red alert" in the region,with the purpose of increasing the work of law enforcement.

According to information from Carabineros, the first call came around 8:30 p.m., when theburning of the truck on the railway tracks was reported,which was left positioned as a barricade.

Later,a report was received that individuals were shooting at a train car,which was left with multiple ballistic impacts.

The police institution also detailed that at the scene,a banner alluding to rural violence and against Gendarmerie was found.

Likewise, they indicated thatno one was injured as a result of the eventsand that currently, OS-9 personnel are carrying out procedures to identify those responsible.

The incident adds to the attacks recorded in recent days in the area, including the attacks suffered yesterday by the newly elected constitutional councilor Héctor Urban and his father in the same commune.
