Arson attack in Panguipulli: perpetrators demand release of Mapuche prisoners
Slogans demanding the release of Mapuche prisoners were found at the site of the arson attack carried out in the early hours of this Sunday at the Agrícola Nochaco estate in Panguipulli.
At the scene, two claw-type machinery units, a Bell and a Caterpillar respectively, both owned by Agrícola y Forestal Puelche, were found burned, along with a banner with slogans alluding to the Mapuche cause.
The banner explicitly demanded: "immediate transfer of the PPMM (Mapuche political prisoners) to Angol, freedom for Nelson Queupil and all PPMM."
The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Route T-39, within the property owned by Forestal Puelche, located on Route T-39, approximately 15 kilometers from Panguipulli, in the Dollinco sector.
The on-duty prosecutor of Los Lagos, Claudia Baeza, ordered the presence of detectives from the Special Police Investigations Brigade (BIPE) and forensic experts from the Regional Criminalistics Laboratory of Valdivia and Puerto Montt, for the crime of Arson.
PDI personnel continue working at the scene to establish the dynamics of these events and gather evidentiary background on those involved.
