Early this Wednesday morning, a violent arson attack was carried out against the forestry company Latorre, located in the Cauñicú sector of the Alto Bío Bío district, in theBío Bío region.

According to a company worker who reported to police personnel, a group of hooded individuals entered the property early this morning and doused at least ten vehicles, including machinery and trucks, with fuel before setting them on fire.

The fire completely consumed the vehicles, leaving them totally charred. The attackers also blocked Route Q-699, which connects the districts of Santa Bárbara and Alto Bío Bío, by cutting down and felling about eight trees onto the road, preventing vehicle passage.

The site of the attack is located about four kilometers from the Queuco Carabineros Post, which suffered no damage.

As a result, Carabineros deployed the head of the operations department to the scene, along with a specialized team from the GOPE Bío Bío and a reinforced battering ram from the COP Concepción. Additionally, the dispatch and support of armored units were requested to ensure safe operations.

Carabineros General and Delegate travel to Alto Bío Bío

General César Bobadilla, Chief of the Bío Bío Zone, who arrived at the scene, stated that "as preliminary information, we can report that in the early hours of the morning, we received a phone call from a person identifying as a worker of the Latorre forestry company, reporting an arson attack affecting forestry vehicles and machinery."

"This allegedly occurred in the Cauñicú sector, specifically at kilometer 27 of Route Q-699. In addition, we have information about a roadblock created by felled trees, preventing vehicle movement along this route," added the General.

So far, no pamphlets or claims of responsibility for the attack have been found. The local Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation to identify those responsible for the incident, which caused millions in losses for the forestry company.

Meanwhile, the Regional Presidential Delegation reported that Presidential Delegate Daniela Dredner is heading to the site of the incident, the same area visited by President Gabriel Boric on two occasions.
