Arson attack in Toltén leaves seven machines destroyed: Government announces legal complaint

In the early hours of this Wednesday, another arson attack took place, this time in the commune of Toltén, in the La Araucanía Region, which left several vehicles destroyed.

What happened?

According to preliminary information, the attack occurred around 6:00 a.m., when a group of hooded individuals entered the Carrizal estate and set fire to two trucks and five machines.

Three companies from the Toltén Fire Department arrived at the scene, managing to control the flames and prevent them from spreading to other areas near the estate.

A banner was found at the site demanding "freedom for Mapuche political prisoners (…) ORT Lafkenche Wacolda. CAM," suggesting that one of the branches of the Arauco Malleco Coordinator (CAM) is behind the attack.

"There is no impunity; there is penal effectiveness, and therefore, filing complaints is not a symbolic act. It seeks investigative measures, but it also yields results because we have convictions and detained individuals," he added.
