Arson Attack Paralyzes Route in Collipulli
Two pickup trucks and a fuel truck were set on fire in an act of violence that caused no injuries but significant material damage.
COLLIPULLI, La Araucanía - A new episode of violence shook the La Araucanía region this Saturday afternoon when a group of unknown individuals carried out an arson attack on Route R49, Curaco sector, near Collipulli. The incident, which resulted in the destruction of two pickup trucks and a fuel-loaded truck, left no casualties but raised alarms about security in the area.
The incident, which adds to a series of similar attacks in the region, occurred on a stretch of highway that has been the scene of other violent acts in the recent past. Although those responsible have not yet been identified, authorities have launched an investigation and deployed a significant contingent of Carabineros to restore order and ensure public safety.
Police Deployment in Response to the Attack
Radio Bío Bío reported that a large-scale Carabineros operation is underway to locate the perpetrators of the attack and prevent further incidents. The affected route is vital for transportation in the region, and its temporary closure due to the attack could have repercussions on logistics and local commerce.
History of Violence in La Araucanía
This is not the first attack of its kind in La Araucanía. Last week, a container and a warehouse were consumed by flames in a similar incident on the route connecting Victoria and Curacautín. These acts have created a climate of tension in the region, where the relationship between indigenous communities and forestry companies has historically been complex.
Call for Calm and Justice
Authorities have called for calm and assured that they are working hard to identify those responsible and bring them to justice. Meanwhile, travelers and local residents are advised to follow official instructions and avoid the attack area.
