Los Lagos: Nearly 20 Arson Crimes Recorded in Osorno Province

Nearly 20 arson crimes have been recorded in Osorno Province, in the Los Lagos region, from 2014 to date.

This was stated by Osorno's chief prosecutor, María Angélica de Miguel, who also reported that most of these crimes have been perpetrated against forestry companies, with contractors being the ones who suffer the consequences, as their machinery is the most affected.

Additionally, the prosecutor noted that due to the difficulty in investigations, cases take much longer to yield results, including arrests and potential convictions.

This is further compounded by the fact that the perpetrators act during less noticeable hours, reducing the chances of being caught in the act.

Finally, the Prosecutor's Office indicated that those responsible for these crimes possess technology almost on par with that of the police, requiring alternative investigative techniques that take longer to produce results.
