Woman Arrested for Alleged Involvement in Forest Fire That Left 3 Firefighters Dead in Los Sauces
PDI officers arrested a woman for her alleged involvement in a forest fire in the commune of Los Sauces, where three firefighters died while battling the flames.
Last Monday, the deaths of Duban Olate Farías, José Quezada Barra, and Cristián Guerra Acuña were confirmed after they became trapped in the midst of the "Los Mongoles" fire due to a sudden shift in wind direction.
Following the incident, the Prosecutor's Office of La Araucanía launched an investigation to determine the origin of the fire and possible human involvement. This led to the identification of the detained woman.
As a result, this morning, the PDI's Environmental Crimes Brigade carried out an operation that resulted in her arrest. The detention hearing is scheduled for 11:30 AM at the Purén Guarantee Court.
