The first service station in Chile fully transformed from traditional fuels to 100% electric energy was inaugurated this morning, located on the Costanera Norte highway in the commune of Vitacura.

The space, owned by Copec, was launched to celebrate its 90th anniversary and can charge up to six vehicles simultaneously, with two different charging standards and three charging power levels, aiming for compatibility with a wide range of electric vehicles.

Additionally, it features a wooden design and a battery-swapping station for Gogoro motorcycles. It also includes an outdoor area equipped with tables and access to Copec's convenience store.

The inauguration was attended by Energy Minister Diego Pardow, who emphasized that "the opening of Copec's first electric charging station is a milestone that reflects the commitment of private players to this national challenge. Electromobility is here to stay."

"We are convinced that the actions taken by public and private stakeholders will allow us to progress toward the goal of clean and efficient transportation, improving the quality of life for Chileans and helping us meet our targets to address the current climate crisis," he added.

Meanwhile, Arturo Natho, Copec's general manager, stated that "the energy transition represents a major opportunity for us to innovate and move toward a cleaner and more efficient development model (...). The inauguration of our first 100% electric service station, along with our commitment to scaling sustainable mobility, marks a decisive step on this path."

Through its subsidiary Copec Voltex, the company operates the largest electric vehicle charging network in Chile and Latin America, spanning over 2,000 kilometers from Coquimbo to Castro. Additionally, the first fast chargers will be installed this year in Arica and Iquique. For those who prefer two-wheeled vehicles, the company has 15 battery-swapping stations for motorcycles in the Metropolitan Region, with more locations to be added throughout 2025.
