A total of 305 wildfires, affecting approximately 400 hectares of diverse land, have been recorded in the La Araucanía region during the current season, which began on July 1, 2024, and will extend until June 30, 2025.

The information was provided by María Teresa Huentequeo, regional director of the National Forestry Corporation (Conaf), as she detailed the situation in La Araucanía resulting from the wildfires, which are currently noted to be on the rise.

"We have already recorded 305 wildfires in our region, representing a 13% increase compared to the previous period. Additionally, 402 hectares have been affected, which is a 25% increase over the previous period," she stated.

Furthermore, the regional authority reiterated the call for residents and visitors to the area to take extreme preventive measures to avoid forest fires.

It is worth mentioning that the Conaf director provided these details while visiting the female wildfire combatant brigade based in Pitrufquén.

The latter hosts the institution's evening brigades, which are currently deployed across the region.
