Futuro Madera Regrets the Resignation of Conaf's Executive Director
The Futuro Madera Network deeply regrets the resignation of Conaf's executive director, Aida Baldini, acknowledging her efforts to bring positions together, always seeking dialogue and the restoration of ecosystems affected by wildfires, as well as promoting sustainable management of our forests.
This resignation comes at a critical moment for forest governance, as the future National Forest Service must be implemented and progress made on a strategic agenda, which requires continuity and effective coordination between public and private stakeholders.
At Futuro Madera, we reaffirm our commitment to continue actively collaborating on four agendas we have been promoting for several years, which are essential for the development of the forestry sector: i) wildfire prevention and control; ii) restoration of degraded ecosystems; iii) advancing the forest promotion project that values our forests as a source of development for territories; and iv) amendments to the native forest law.
Chile urgently needs a forest governance system that operates with agility and a sense of state responsibility. We hope this situation is addressed as a priority by the Minister of Agriculture, ensuring continuity in key policies for the sector.
The Futuro Madera Network is composed of the Chilean Biomass Association (AchBiom), the Forest Contractors Association (Acoforag), the Chilean Native Forest Owners Association (Aprobosque), the College of Forestry Engineers of Chile (Cifag), the Chilean Wood Corporation (Corma), and the Small and Medium-Sized Wood Industries (Pymemad).
