Futuro Madera expresses its deep concern over the reduction of resources allocated to the sustainable management of native forest in the 2027 Budget. We consider that this measure constitutes a wrong signal, which disregards the enormous environmental, social, and productive potential of our native forests and the need to strengthen the instruments that allow it to be harnessed sustainably.
The native forest needs more support, not less. Its conservation requires simplifying procedures and making it easier for owners to care for it, restore it, and use it productively in a balanced way.
We recognize that the current promotion instruments require substantial improvements. However, the solution lies in perfecting the procedures, incentives, and scope, not in reducing investment in the sector.
Therefore, we call for reconsidering this cut and moving toward a public policy that effectively strengthens the conservation and enhancement of the native forest.
