Truckers from the central-southern zone in Los Angeles acknowledged the need to extend the State of Emergency in the macrozona, stating that violent organizations have not been dismantled.
For the trucking union in the area, based in Los Angeles and led by Fredy Martínez, it has been very logical and necessary for this measure to remain in effect, as it has been for the past 4 years. This is because, in their view, the gangs and groups that attack truckers have not ceased operations.
"This type of related crime, as has been revealed in several investigations, has been decreasing with the implementation of the Constitutional State of Emergency, and that was what the truckers did on May 7, 2022, and now, on May 16, it will have been in effective exercise for 4 years and has provided sustained security," he said.
Along with this, he added that it has been a relief to confirm that attacks have decreased over the last 3 months.
Despite this, the cargo transport union leader indicated that there are events suggesting that some groups have continued operating and that vigilance must not be lowered.
