Links between right-wing businessmen and radical groups allegedly operating in the Arauco province – Bío Bío region – were denounced by the former presidential delegate of that area, Humberto Toro.
The former authority also pointed to the relationship between politics, business, and the actions of groups that have resumed violence in the macrozone.
It was during a heated discussion in El Tablón that the former presidential delegate in Arauco, Humberto Toro, depicted what is happening behind the radical organizations in the area that claim responsibility for arson attacks.
The former authority asserted that there is organized crime and that those involved are criminals, who would be hiding behind a banner of struggle, committing criminal acts such as wood theft, car theft, drugs, and arms trafficking.
"Behind that is the money. They went from wood theft to drugs, to vehicle theft, etc. They are criminals taking advantage of the territory's characteristics," he stated.
Furthermore, he revealed that after attacks in the Arauco province, such as in the Grollmus case, the weapons were supplied by local businessmen linked to the right wing.
The former delegate detailed that the person implicated in arms trafficking cooperated with the investigation that led to the arrest of the 22 people who participated in the attack.
Republican deputy Paz Charpentier responded to him that he cannot link the lack of employment in the province with joining radical groups.
The former authority of the Arauco province commented that the way to dismantle them goes hand in hand with the presence of the State, greater job opportunities, and simultaneously, police pursuit.
