The forestry drivers' union called for greater safety in the Southern Macrozone, stating they are not being heard by current authorities and that coordination was better under the previous government.

This refers to the Federation of Forestry Transport and Loading Unions (Fetracarfor), which brings together 1,300 forestry drivers from the Maule and Los Ríos regions.

The union's president, Alejandro Jara, detailed that in a very brief meeting, they handed over a technical safety report to the presidential delegate of La Araucanía, Francisco Ljubetic, but believe it is not being given the importance it requires.

Along with that, he confirmed they had better coordination with the previous government: "Even though it was a left-wing government that didn't appreciate safety issues much, we were still able to coordinate some direct numbers related to the Public Order Control (COP) and the police instantly."

According to his explanation, through the georeferencing they provided, the police could act more effectively in emergency situations.

In contrast, "what we observe in this new administration is that it claims to know everything and that no one can teach them anything," stated the president of Fetracarfor.

Alejandro Jara emphasized that as a union, they want to contribute to safety by informing authorities about the critical and high-risk areas in the Southern Macrozone. Therefore, they hope to meet with the Minister of Security, Martín Arrau.

Regarding the forestry driver who, during an ambush, ran over and killed a psychologist and member of the CAM, it was reported that he is under protective measures.
