René Muñoz, manager of the Forest Contractors Association, expressed his deep dismay at the new act of violence in La Araucanía, describing the situation as a display of "negligence" on the part of the State.

"We have already stated this: it is not enough to carry out interventions in certain communities; what is required is a frontal state action to attack terrorism and violence," he emphasized.

This follows Monday's incident where a group of hooded and heavily armed individuals perpetrated an armed robbery against five forestry workers in the commune of Angol. The incident occurred on Route R-230, inside the Deuco estate, owned by Forestal Arauco.

According to reports, the workers from the contracting company "Renacer Servicios Forestales" were intercepted by a vehicle while traveling in a truck loaded with pine seedlings.

The criminals forced the victims to lie on the ground under the threat of firearms.

After taking control of the area, the assailants unloaded the pine cargo, stole radio communication equipment, and disabled both the security cameras and the vehicle's GPS system before fleeing with it.

The Regional Secretary of Public Security, Luis Calderón, confirmed that investigations are being carried out in coordination with the Prosecutor's Office, Carabineros, and the Investigative Police (PDI).

"Although the GPS and cameras were disabled, all inquiries are being made, primarily with witnesses and victims for identification and to provide good leads for the investigation," he stated.
