A swift and successful police operation carried out by personnel from the Hualañé Carabineros Police Post led to the flagrant arrest of five individuals who were committing the crime of wood theft and larceny inside a forest property. The offense came to light during the afternoon, thanks to the timely report from a worker in the Budeo sector, located in the commune of Hualañé.

According to the official information provided by the uniformed institution, the alert was generated after a phone call to emergency services. The commissioner of the Second Police Station of Licantén, Major José Manríquez, detailed that the call was made by a "forest guard in the sector of Forestal Vista Hermosa, in the commune of Hualañé." The worker reported that while carrying out his duties at the "Santa Marta estate, Budeo sector of the commune of Hualañé, he noticed the presence of two vehicles, a truck and a pickup truck, which were loaded with eucalyptus, as well as the presence of five male individuals who were illegally logging in the area."

After receiving this information, police personnel immediately moved to the indicated forest property. Upon arriving at the scene, the officers came face to face with the crime. "The police personnel noticed these individuals in flagrante delicto, proceeding to arrest five individuals, all male," specified Major Manríquez.

Regarding the profile of the detainees, the police authority confirmed that "they all have criminal records for various offenses," and that among the members of the gang there is a minor, "a 17-year-old adolescent." After being subdued, the five suspects were transferred to the Hualañé Police Post facilities and placed in custody for violating "Article 448 of the Penal Code, which relates to the theft or larceny of wood."

Carabineros stated that the detainees are "awaiting verification of their records by the Flagrancy Prosecutor's Office." Finally, the police institution praised the action of the reporter and reiterated the call to the community to promptly report this type of crime that affects the heritage and natural resources of the area.
