Constitution pushes for working group to address labor crisis in the forestry sector

A working group aimed at addressing the labor crisis and unemployment in Constitución began to take shape after a meeting held at the Municipal Hall, which brought together Mayor Carlos Valenzuela Gajardo, the Maule Regional Minister of Labor, Ervin Castillo, the president of Fefecon, Luis Balladares, and the regional manager of Corma, Leonardo Vergara.

The initiative seeks to foster joint work among workers, the municipality, the Government, and the private sector, considering that, according to information provided by Fefecon, the commune has accumulated more than 3,000 layoffs, mainly linked to the crisis in the forestry sector.

The Regional Minister of Labor stressed the need to develop a special plan for Constitución that takes into account its economic and productive characteristics, while Fefecon proposed measures such as labor reconversion, training through SENCE, and support for small businesses.

From Corma, emphasis was placed on the need to move from diagnosis to action, promoting long-term policies, greater certainty for investment, and conditions that allow productive activity and employment to recover.

Participants agreed on the importance of maintaining a permanent dialogue group and moving forward with concrete actions to generate employment, support affected families, and project the recovery of the forestry sector in Constitución and the Maule Region.
