Two People Caught in the Act for Wood Theft in La Unión

Detectives from the Valdivia Criminal Investigation Brigade arrested two individuals while they were stealing wood from a property in the commune of La Unión.

According to the civilian police, officers had been conducting investigative procedures for nearly a month to locate the suspects, which was achieved yesterday when a truck was found inside the El Japonés property loading wood they had previously stolen.

This led to the capture of the two individuals, aged 64 and 51 respectively, who have no prior criminal records. The detainees are believed to be the truck driver and his accomplice, who was illegally selling the wood.

Additionally, the self-loading crane truck they were driving, a chainsaw, and the stolen raw wood were seized, with the total value estimated at over $30 million.

Both individuals were placed at the disposal of the La Unión Guarantee Court for their respective detention hearing. Meanwhile, the wood will be returned to its rightful owners.
