Acoforag values conviction of Héctor Llaitul, leader of CAM

Chilean justice took a significant step in the fight against terrorism in the Macrozona Sur with the confirmation of the conviction of Héctor Llaitul, leader of the Arauco Malleco Coordinator (CAM), something valued by the Association of Forestry Contractors (Acoforag).
The Second Chamber of the highest court dismissed the nullity appeal filed by the defense, upholding the effective prison sentence for crimes punishable under the State Security Law, among other charges. This ruling has been welcomed with hope by regional authorities and representatives of affected sectors, who see this decision as a precedent to move toward peace and development without the shadow of terrorism.
René Muñoz, manager of the Association of Forestry Contractors of La Araucanía (Acoforag), expressed his satisfaction with the judicial resolution to Radio Cooperativa, stating that Llaitul's conviction is an act of justice for the victims of the violence and insecurity he promoted.
Sebastián Naveillán, president of the Victoria-Malleco Farmers Association, also celebrated the news, emphasizing Llaitul's responsibility for the terrorist acts that have plagued the region for years.
Meanwhile, the regional governor of La Araucanía, Luciano Rivas, told the same outlet about his hope for the precedent this conviction could set, reaffirming Llaitul's guilt and the need for his imprisonment. Rivas stressed that this ruling represents progress toward justice for those affected by the actions coordinated by the CAM leader and highlighted the importance of continuing efforts to eradicate terrorism from the area.
The Supreme Court's unanimous decision is seen as a positive signal for the region, which has witnessed conflict and violence for years.
