A complex scenario confronts the south-central part of the country due to wildfires that remain active this Sunday. According to the report issued by the National Forestry Corporation (Conaf), as of 12:00 hours, 24 wildfires are in combat, being tackled by the agency's brigades alongside emergency teams.
The most critical situation is concentrated in the regions of Ñuble and Bío Bío, where authorities maintain a regional Red Alert due to the magnitude and simultaneity of the incidents, several of which are spreading rapidly and have affected large areas.
Ñuble: nine active fires with thousands of hectares consumed
In the Ñuble region, all fire outbreaks are under a regional Red Alert. The Perales Biobío fire, in the commune of Ránquil, stands out, having already reached a preliminary area of 2,800 hectares, making it one of the most extensive fires of the day.
It is followed by the Monte Negro fire, in Quillón, with 1,500 hectares affected, while the Rahuil Bajo fire, also in Ránquil, records 500 hectares consumed. In the commune of Pinto, the El Cardal fire also reaches 500 hectares, while El Manzano, in San Nicolás, adds 361 hectares.
Other relevant outbreaks correspond to the Huracán fire, in El Carmen (45 hectares); Reserva Ñuble, in Pinto (36.2 hectares); Pite, in Bulnes (5 hectares); and Miramar, in Coelemu (1.6 hectares).
Bío Bío Region: Trinitarias fire exceeds 10 thousand hectares
In the Bío Bío region, also under a regional Red Alert, the Trinitarias fire, in the commune of Concepción, is of particular concern, presenting a preliminary affected area of 10,621 hectares, becoming the largest fire reported so far by Conaf.
In the same commune, the Rancho Chico fire adds 737 hectares, while in Laja, the Rucahue Sur fire reaches 1,000 hectares consumed.
La Araucanía: two communes under Red Alert
Meanwhile, in the La Araucanía region, Conaf reports two significant fires under a communal Red Alert. In Collipulli, the Santa Cruz fire affects 657 hectares, while in Lumaco, the Rucalleco outbreak records a preliminary area of 65 hectares.
Conaf reiterated the call for the population to take extreme prevention measures, avoid risky behavior, and follow the instructions of authorities, in a context marked by high temperatures, wind, and conditions favorable for the spread of fire. Combat operations continue on the ground, with aerial and terrestrial support, while the report remains under constant update.
