The Chilean Meteorological Directorate (DMC) issued the weather forecast for the regions of Ñuble and Biobío, where voracious forest fires are currently raging.

In a conversation with Emol, meteorologist Andrés Moncada reported that this Sunday and Monday is "the period of highest temperatures in the Ñuble region and also in the Biobío region," associated with the current meteorological alert.

Regarding temperatures, he commented that today "they will range between 35 and 38°C in the valleys, and also in the foothill areas," while on Monday "the same values" would be recorded.

Furthermore, he specified that "this is accompanied by winds of 40 km/h and gusts of up to 50 km/h, especially in the late afternoon and evening, with a southwestern component."

Moncada also pointed out that "the atmosphere is expected to continue with low moisture content, with relative humidity below 20% in the afternoon hours, when the maximum temperatures are recorded, so all these factors are favorable for the spread of forest fires."

For Tuesday, he mentioned that "the maximum temperatures decrease slightly, falling into the advisory category, with values that should range between 32 and 36°C in the valleys and foothill sectors of this entire stretch."

And, on Wednesday, "we would already have maximum temperatures below 33°C in the regions of Ñuble and also in the Biobío region."
