A multi-focus forest fire has once again struck the commune of Lebu, affecting a property owned by Forestal Arauco.

On Wednesday afternoon, the fire broke out in an area previously damaged by another blaze last Friday, heightening concerns over the recurrence of such events.

The company reported evidence suggesting intentionality behind the fire, following the discovery of two lit candles, a known method for deliberately starting fires.

Forestry personnel managed to capture on video how the candles, used to delay ignition and allow the perpetrators to escape, remained active at the scene.

This technique aims for the outbreaks to activate simultaneously and merge, facilitating the fire's spread. Fortunately, the candles were detected in time, preventing the generation of larger new outbreaks.

Despite rapid intervention, the fire managed to consume approximately 17 hectares, marking another episode of forest emergency in the region. Authorities and the company are on alert due to the possibility of these intentional acts recurring and escalating in magnitude.

The Lebu community and emergency teams remain vigilant and are collaborating in efforts to control the fire and prevent future incidents.

This incident underscores the importance of prevention and investigation in forest fires, especially when there are indications they may be deliberately set.
