Empresas CMPC completed the sale of approximately 60,000 hectares of land and forestry assets in the Maule Region for US$365.5 million. The transaction was carried out through its subsidiary Forestal Mininco, which signed a purchase and sale agreement with Bosques San Pedro SpA, an entity belonging to the J.P. Morgan Natural Capital group.
The transaction, reported through an essential fact to the Financial Market Commission (CMF), mainly includes productive radiata pine plantations. The transferred area is equivalent to about 5% of CMPC's total forestry land.
The amount of the transaction is subject to the usual adjustments of this type of contract. Part of the payment will be made at the closing of the deal, while the balance will be delivered as the properties are registered in the buyer's name. This process should be completed over the next three months.
CMPC will maintain wood supply
Despite the sale of the land, the company will retain a commercial link with the transferred assets through a long-term wood supply contract. This agreement will allow CMPC to continue acquiring wood from the sold properties, contributing to the supply of its paperboard plant located in the Maule Region.
During the transition period, Forestal Mininco will also maintain continuity of contractual commitments with suppliers and customers related to the assets included in the transaction.
On the financial side, CMPC anticipated that the sale will have a positive effect on its results, whose impact would be reflected between the fourth quarter of 2026 and the first quarter of 2027. However, the company specified that it is not yet possible to determine exactly the amount of this benefit.
The transaction will allow the company to complete the sale of part of its forestry assets, while maintaining access to the wood necessary for its industrial operations in the area.
