The company CMPC presented its forest fire prevention and combat plan for the 2026-2027 season, in coordination with Government authorities, with a deployment of human and aerial resources focused mainly on the La Araucanía Region.
The operation includes more than 1,200 workers and 20 aircraft to respond to possible emergencies. Of the total personnel, 900 brigade members will be dedicated to direct firefighting, while another 300 will carry out territorial prevention work.
The aerial component includes 10 tanker planes, eight medium helicopters intended for water drops and transport of brigade members, as well as two coordination aircraft to strategically monitor fire hotspots.
During the presentation, the regional ministerial secretary of Public Security of La Araucanía, Luis Calderón, highlighted the availability of human, ground and aerial resources, noting that prevention and timely response are essential to protect communities and prevent damage.
For its part, the Government stressed the importance of strengthening coordination between forestry companies and public agencies to face the highest-risk season.
Meanwhile, the regional director of CONAF, Héctor Tillería, called on the public to reinforce preventive measures, especially in rural areas, and to avoid actions that could cause forest fires given rising temperatures and conditions favorable for the spread of fire.
