More than 25 representatives of small and medium-sized enterprises from Ñuble participated in a seminar organized by the Universidad del Bío-Bío (UBB), aimed at strengthening the integration of SMEs into the value chain of industrialized wood construction.
The activity was carried out within the framework of the project "Industrialization of wood housing for the Ñuble Region," funded by the Regional Government through the Innovation Fund for Competitiveness (FIC-R).
The UBB rector, Dr. Benito Umaña, highlighted the importance of this initiative and the collaborative work between academia, the public and private sectors. He also emphasized that innovation and technological development are fundamental to advancing wood industrialization.
During the meeting, topics such as the quality of structural wood, productive innovation, and opportunities to incorporate regional companies as suppliers to the sector were addressed.
The event also featured international experiences, including the presentation by the Brazilian company Mademape, which presented its model for manufacturing modular homes using eucalyptus wood.
In addition, a working table was held with SME representatives to identify challenges and opportunities for collaboration, improve production standards, and strengthen regional productive linkages.
The next meeting will be held on November 17 in Chillán, under the name "Industrialized Wood: Driving the Construction Ecosystem."
