The Nonguén National Park Association of Municipalities has filed a complaint against those found responsible for the forest fire that burned approximately 250 hectares within this protected green area.

The total impact on Nonguén National Park following the forest fires that affected the Bío Bío region is still unknown, with the fires leaving around twenty dead and thousands of homes burned.

In that context, the Nonguén National Park Association of Municipalities filed a complaint against those found responsible for the fire that consumed shrubs and trees in the protected zone, as detailed by the mayor of Hualqui and president of the association, Ricardo Fuentes.

They also seek a real survey of the burned area within the park. According to estimates, approximately 250 hectares were affected; however, the full extent of the damage is still uncertain.

The fire mainly affected pine and eucalyptus trees, in addition to native species.

For now, Nonguén National Park remains open with some restrictions.
