Two individuals found guilty of timber theft from a Forestal Mininco property in Cholchol, La Araucanía region.

The Oral Criminal Court of Temuco found Carlos Enrique García Ortega and Pedro Rubén Peñan Catrileo guilty as perpetrators of the crime of timber theft committed on July 14, 2023, on a property in the commune.

The court made the decision after weighing the evidence presented by the prosecution and the defense, specifying that both defendants were caught red-handed after the theft from the Santa Laura estate, owned by the plaintiff Forestal Mininco.

Meanwhile, the sentencing hearing will take place on Friday, May 8, at 11:00 a.m., where the penalty to be served by both convicts will be announced.

The verdict was announced by judges Cecilia Subiabre, Wilfred Ziehlmann, and Javier Bascur.
