From Curanilahue, land of guitars and accordions, comes the story of Luis Yancamán, a man who has built his life with effort, joy, and inherited values. The son of a miner who left for the north at a young age, he grew up surrounded by examples of sacrifice and simplicity.
Together with his wife, Alba Luz Fontalba, he started with the bare minimum: a bed and a few cups. With trust and shared work, they formed a solid family. “I would hand her the money, and she would save it,” recalls Luis, grateful for his partner, whom he describes as thrifty and steadfast.
On his journey, there was also his father-in-law, Polidoro Segundo Fontalba, whom he considers a second father. Together they dreamed and built a house, respecting his role as head of the family.
Today, his children take pride in the example they received. Luis, a machinery operator, values his trade, but even more so, family life: “You connect with the machine, but the most important thing is to come home, talk about how the day went, and see your loved ones proud.”
The story of Luis, Alba, and Polidoro reflects the strength of everyday life: a testament that with love, respect, and joy, a dignified life can be built from the simplest things.
