Arson attack in Lautaro: hooded individuals burn machinery after operation in Temucuicui

An arson attack was recorded during the afternoon of this Tuesday in the commune of Lautaro, La Araucanía region, after hooded individuals entered a farm located on route S-225 armed and intimidated workers at the site.

According to initial reports, Carabineros became aware of the incident around 1:30 PM and, upon arriving at the scene, confirmed the fire of a dump truck and a backhoe.

According to preliminary information, the unknown individuals allegedly threatened workers with firearms before burning the machinery and fleeing.

A banner was also found in the area, a detail that will be incorporated into the investigations to determine possible links to organized groups or claims associated with the incident.

The attack occurs hours after the operation carried out in Temucuicui, which ended with the arrest of Jorge Huenchullán Cayul.

For now, the police must determine whether there is a connection between both events, while investigations are underway to identify those responsible and quantify the damage caused to the property.
